We’re looking for your pictures celebrating garden life to show off how treasured it can be.

So we are launching a ‘Love your garden’ photography competition.

We’re already looking ahead to a 2019 Singletons Nurseries calendar and would love to feature winning entries for different months of the year. We will also showcase images in our revamped Potting Shed cafe and restaurant.

But that’s not all, each winning entry will also scoop its photographer complimentary benefits as a member of our Friends of the Potting Shed loyalty scheme – and a Singletons gift voucher.

So what images are we looking for?

To be eligible to enter, your picture must be taken in your garden, of a garden scene.

It can include:

• Nature – plants, flowers, shrubs etc
• Weather – snow, frost, sunshine or any other eye-catching conditions
• Wildlife – any visitors you want to snap an image of
• Family – you, your loved ones – loving your garden – laughing, playing, working – who knows?
• Pets – your beautiful pets could also have a place in our gallery
• Birds – how wonderful to featured your feathered friends

How to enter

Please submit your pictures via private message to our facebook page.

Please like our page before sending.

Or email competitions@singletonsnurseries.co.uk.

What happens then?

We will feature selected images on our facebook page.

A team of judges from Singletons will pick three winning entries.

These entries will be enlarged to be included in the camera and tea room gallery.

If your picture wins it will need to be blown up so please bear in mind the quality, size and depth of your image.

We thought we’d give you a glimpse into our world by sharing our top ten cakes with you. Which one’s your favourite?

1. Victoria sponge

This classic bake comes top of the list – with lashings of raspberry jam and butter cream – yes please!

2. Coffee and walnut

Oh my – what a perfect combination, and dare we say it, just a smidgen more sophisticated than others mentioned here!

3. Lemon drizzle

Gorgeous and light, with the most subtle and zingy of flavours – no wonder it’s a smash-hit.

4. Bakewell slice

A traditional favourite and wonderful with tea or coffee maybe? Hands up who loves almonds? Our lovely customers certainly do!

5. Carrot cake

Carrot in a cake, whoever thought of that? What a brilliant idea and we would most humbly suggest, just possibly one of your five a day!

6. Scone with clotted cream and jam

Do you say ‘sconn’ or ‘skone’? Either way is fine by us! Such a delicious invention with cream and jam – now which do you put on first?

7. Toasted tea cakes

Ah now – just think of that golden brown texture – with butter oozing from every pore – who says a little of what you fancy doesn’t do you good?

8. Chocolate cake

Chocolate heaven more like! A divine way to enjoy your time with friends… the chunkier the better – (our cake – not your friends!)

9. Pineapple fruit cake

Just lovely – and definitely worth trying if you haven’t yet. A tasty fresh fruit slice with super-light sponge – bring it on!

10. Rocky road

A cornucopia of ingredients, all in a dainty slice – ready for you to enjoy – is one slice really enough?
